Ben Liebman

Founder of The Machdrumcorps program, Ben Liebman grew up in Virginia beach, VA. Coming from a musical family, Ben learned piano, guitar, and trumpet at a young age. When he entered middle school, saxophone became his primary interest for the next several years. Ben also attended George Parks Drum Major Academy, which he believes led him to seek drum corps as an avenue for developing his performance and leadership abilities.
Ben attended James Madison University, where he studied saxophone under the tutelage of David Pope. He also studied euphonium with Dr. Joel Collier and Dr. Philip Marion. His collegiate musical experience includes men's chorus, wind ensemble, marching band, tuba/euphonium ensemble, and jazz band. His drum corps performance experience included Spirit of Atlanta in 2014, Cadets in 2016, and Bluecoats in 2017.
Currently, Ben studies business administration at Tidewater Community College, while simultaneously working with various band programs in the Hampton Roads area as a music and visual instructor. When Ben is not thinking about music, he enjoys meditation, creative writing, and cooking.
