JP Riley

Picture
As a 2016 alumnus of the James Madison University (JMU) School of Music in Harrisonburg, VA, J.P. Riley worked extensively in the music education scene in Virginia. After leading the JMU Marching Royal Dukes as a Drum Major in 2015, he went on to work at Shelburne Middle School as an instrumental music teacher and with the Robert E. Lee High School Marching Band as an instructor and drill designer.

Currently, J.P. is the music teacher at Crawford High School in San Diego, CA. During his tenure at Crawford, the school was awarded an instrument grant that provided the program with over 75 wind, string, and percussion instruments. He is looking forward to developing the opportunities for students at Crawford to experience orchestra, band, and marching band.

As an active performer J.P. has played in a number of groups including the JMU Wind Symphony and the JMU Jazz Ensemble, and was a featured soloist with the JMU Marching Royal Dukes during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He was also an active member of both the Valley Wind Ensemble in Harrisonburg, VA and the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra of Waynesboro, VA. During the summers of 2013 and 2014, J.P. marched baritone with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. Currently, J.P. is a member of the Cuyamaca College Concert Band and the New City Sinfonia orchestra.
