Michael Benoit
Michael is an active percussion instructor and arranger in the Southwest Louisiana area.
Hailing from Delcambre, Louisiana and attending UL Lafayette, he earned his bachelor’s degree
in History with a concentration in African American and American Indian history and minored in
English, focusing in literary theory. He is currently completing a teaching certification program
with a concentration in Music, Social Studies, and English education.
Michael has taught 5 th grade to collegiate musicians both privately and in ensembles for
over seven years. Specializing in percussion, he has taught at and arranged music for North
Vermilion High school for six consecutive years; he has also taught and/or arranged for the
Louisiana Stars, Elite Independent Indoor Percussion, Elite “A” Indoor Percussion, UL Lafayette’s
Pride of Acadiana, New Iberia Senior High, Delcambre High, Lafayette High, Brother Martin
High, East Central High (MS), and others. Michael was an inaugural member of the Louisiana
Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2014 and marched with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in
2015 and 2016, serving as section leader in 2016. Further, he served as section leader for two
years at UL Lafayette’s Pride of Acadiana for two years and principal percussionist for the UL
Lafayette Wind Ensemble.
