Philip Marion
Phillip Marion is a highly accomplished brass player from Philadelphia, PA, currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts from James Madison University. He is an international award winning performer on euphonium and trombone, most recently placing second with the James Madison University Brass Band in the North American Brass Band Association's 2019 Band Championship.
He has performed principle and solo euphonium with many great ensembles across the United States, including: the Brass Band and Wind Symphony of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA; the Philadelphia Wind Symphony; and the Atlantic Brass Band of the Greater Philadelphia area.
In addition, he has played trombone in jazz, symphony, and wind orchestras, such as the Waynesboro Symphony, James Madison's Symphony Orchestra, and the JMU Wind Symphony. Throughout his fifteen years of performing, his skill and personality have shown in every piece he plays.
Phillip has studied with some of the world’s top brass performers, including Pennsylvania Ballet tubist and Grammy Award-winner Jay Krush, euphonium soloist and clinician Dr. Brian Bowman, and tuba soloist, chamber musician, and conductor Kevin Stees. These expert teachers have helped him develop both highly acclaimed musical technique and a deep passion for the art.
